7月29日、BTSの全7人のメンバー（RM、Jin、Suga、j-hope、Jimin、V、Jungkook）が各自のソーシャルメディアアカウントに同じメッセージを投稿し、「We have decided not to submit our music to the Grammys this year.」

メンバーたちは、「We hope that music will be heard and loved for what it is, rather than being categorized by region or language,」と自らの信念を表現。さらに「We are grateful to ARMY and everyone who are is always with us.」
